Home of Compassion, New Dementia Unit

The development of a new stand-alone Dementia care unit alongside the existing aged care facility provided an opportunity to put into practice the most recent advances in stage III dementia care.  The 16 bed unit provides an environment that, while contained and secure, has as many familiar home elements as possible.  Easy circulation routes, plenty of natural light and ventilation along with good access to contained outdoor spaces help to create a lively, pleasant and fresh environment for residents and visitors.  It also incorporates the latest technology in nurse call systems to assist the staff in providing a safe and secure environment.

Sustainability was a major consideration throughout all stages of the development.  Site planning, material selections, equipment and services have all been carefully designed so that they align with the applicable Green rating standards.  While challenging this has resulted in a building that has minimal impact on it’s surrounding environment whilst also reducing running costs.  Ultimately this means the completed facility provides a more comfortable home for its residents, visitors and staff.
